Wild Salmon Watersheds is a new ASF program focused on freshwater. We partner with stakeholders and Indigenous groups on select rivers and work together to establish a conservation action plan.
Our partners deliver the vision and boots on the ground. ASF contributes the connections, resources, and expertise to make it happen.
The goal is a network of up to 30 Wild Salmon Watersheds throughout Quebec and Atlantic Canada. These places will nurture the connection between people and salmon and provide benefits across the species’ range.
The successful postdoctoral fellow will work closely with Wild Salmon Watersheds partners to predict the effects of climate change and other threats to salmon rivers and help select optimal conservation actions.
We are looking for an individual with a PhD in natural science or social science who has knowledge about the human dimensions of wildlife conservation, especially as it relates to climate change. Strong technical skills like data analysis are essential.
The final project is the development of a model for applying human knowledge to evidence-based conservation action plans. It will be a one-year position starting in March 2023, with some flexibility around the start date.
