ASF is pleased to welcome Abby Pond as the new New Brunswick Program Director. Abby will play a key role in the operations team and is excited to dive into her new role with ASF.

Abby has lived and worked in New Brunswick, Ontario, British Columbia, and the UK in the tourism and non-profit sectors.

She was born and raised on the Taxis River just outside of Boiestown, and her family has a rich history in the salmon angling community.
Her grandfather and uncle are members of the Hall of Fame at the Miramichi Salmon Museum (Mervin Green and Murray Calhoun).

She has served on the boards of the Southwest NB Transit Authority, St Croix Estuary Project, Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick, St. Stephen BIA, and volunteered for the Girl Guides of Canada, Canadian Ski Patrol, Recreational Canoeing Association of British Columbia.

Abby is a passionate community builder- one of the founders of Startup St. Stephen in 2017 and town councillor from 2014-2016. She is the Chair of Dialogue NB, helping to lead New Brunswick toward greater social cohesion.

Abby holds an MSc. in Climate Change Management from the University of London Birkbeck College, and a BSc. in Biology from Queen’s University.

She also holds a Wilderness Guiding diploma from Northwest Community College in Smithers, BC.

She has held pivotal roles leading the Charlotte Coastal Region Tourism Association, St Croix International Waterway Commission, and Revelstoke Bear Aware. She has participated in Charlotte County Climate Change Vulnerability assessments, overseen the annual alewife counts on the St. Croix, and has been involved in many other projects that bring together members of the public, scientists, government, and First Nations.

Creativity has been and continues to be a driving force in Abby’s life. She is a songwriter, musician, knitter, spinner, sewer, painter, and is always up for trying a new creative outlet.

Abby is happiest when she is planning strategically, drinking coffee and developing her next creative project in her St Stephen garden with her 11-year-old and her menagerie of animals.
