It’s a critical moment for wild Atlantic salmon and coastal ecosystems in Newfoundland and Labrador. Parks Canada has been working with communities along the island’s south coast for years to establish a national marine conservation area. The South Coast Fjords protected area would respect existing fisheries and protect habitat for wild Atlantic salmon, whales, turtles, seabirds, dolphins, and dozens of species of fish.
