Main Brook, Torrent River, Western Arm Brook Location: Northern Peninsula Report Date: July 29th, 2010 River Condition: Water levels have been extremely high on most Northern Peninsula Rivers for much of the past two weeks and has limited angling opportunities. Currently water levels are still high. Water temperatures were fairly warm during the past two weeks but are now starting to drop. River Run: During the past two weeks runs have remained strong on most rivers on the Northern Peninsula. As of July 25 some 1723 fish have passed through the counting fence on Western Arm Brook compared to the previous five year average of 886 for the same time period. As of July 25 some 3207 fish have passed through the Torrent River fishway compared to the previous five year average of 3218 for the same time period. Unfortunately, anglers are still reporting seeing fish with scars on them on this river and DFO is currently assessing the situation. Success: Barb Genge, owner of Tuckamore Lodge, reports that fishing has been awesome on Main Brook during the past two weeks despite continually rising water levels. Currently water levels are very high but anglers are still catching fish daily.
