NEW BRUNSWICK GOVERNMENT
Launch of fourth annual Protect our Rivers campaign
27 August 2015
FREDERICTON (GNB) – NB Liquor and the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation today launched the fourth year of their Protect Our Rivers campaign. Purchasing a participating product at any NB Liquor store between Aug. 24 and Sept. 27 will help raise funds for New Brunswick rivers.
"New Brunswicker’s identify strongly with our rivers and with our salmon fishery,” said Ron Lindala, chair of the board of directors. “Whether it is boating, fishing or swimming, enjoying our rivers and streams is part of our culture. We are proud to continue to help raise funds to support these excellent river conservation projects."
The program applies to products identified by Protect Our Rivers signage in stores. For every unit sold, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation. There are 43 stores participating in the campaign.
The Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation is a registered non-profit organization with the mandate to promote the conservation of New Brunswick Rivers and streams.
“River conservation efforts are a responsibility of every New Brunswicker, “said Stephen Chase, executive director of the foundation. “This terrific partnership benefits rivers by providing funds for local conservation projects in the province. One hundred percent of the funds raised contribute directly to community groups and is used to protect and restore New Brunswick streams and rivers.”
To date, NB Liquor has helped raise more than $250,000 for salmon conservation.
